Mike Huckabee: Politician, Man of God, and What He's Like in Real Life

Meeting Mike Huckabee at a Rally
On a snowy day, I met Mike Huckabee and Chuck Norris. My story of meeting Chuck Norris is noted in a separate hub, in more detail, but I chose to document my experience of meeting Governor Huckabee in a separate hub, because it was also pretty cool. I don't know about you guys, but I find that Fox News can sometimes be too "Right" and CNN can be too "Left", but Mike Huckabee's show on Fox News is, like Goldie's soup, just right. He isn't too radical, leaning neither too far to the left or right. He has cool guests like Willie Nelson on his show who, by the way, are at completely different ends of the political spectrum. But there's something about the guy that's really like able. You know, I knew he wouldn't win the nomination at the rally where I met him right away. The reason? He seemed too honest. He didn't exude that dirty politician vibe. He seemed absolutely cool, like Ron Paul, a guy who seemed like he actually craved the presidency as a way to help people as opposed to wanting it for the vast power that comes with the position.
Mike Huckabee spoke on many issues that he said we were going to get into trouble with if we didn't look out, and now, a few months in the administration of a new president, we are in a free fall. I mean, I would have just loved it if Mike would have been elected. If you play with Willie Nelson on your show and bring Chuck Norris along on the road, you are totally cool! Much more cool than the man in office who has made it his primary priority while in office to be on television! He should have gone into acting, because that's what he is...an actor. But this isn't the West Wing, nor is it 24. As far as I'm concerned, President Palmer from 24 was the first black American president! Anyway, I'm just venting. I'm sorry to interrupt my train of thought like that, but I'm just growing to hate the guy. He seems so sanctimonious.
So, back to meeting Mike. After his speech, which was sensible and actually presenting his proposed solutions to real problems, unlike the verbal jump roping done by our president now...who can't seem to answer a question with a real damn answer! There I go again. Sorry. I just don't like Barack. And I really don't like the people that think you're racist if you don't like the guy or think his wife is pretty. I call it how I see it. Michelle is ugly, Barack is a lackluster president, and Mike Huckabee would have been a kick-ass president.
Sorry, a lot of that is just venting, but I really wish Mike would have gotten the job. After he finished the speech, he shook my hand and said, "God Bless You." It was totally cool. Then, I got to meet Chuck Norris and his wife. That was truly cool.

I agree with your personal experience and expressed opinion that Huckabee is level-headed, and I would add he is full of downhome common sense. Boy, do we need that now! But I think he is too 'right' to get elected. Or anyone 'right' at this point in history. But how would I know? :-)
Thanks for a good personal experience hub!

He is a nice fellow, a God blessed man.
I really like Mike Huckabee. I would like to see him run again if I thought he had a chance.

Great story. I liked Mike Huckabee since was Gov. Huckabee. Got to meet him at a luncheon here in town at the AZ Biltmore shortly before he announced his candidacy. My husband tries to attend the King Biscuit Blues Festival every few years on the banks of the mighty Mississippi in Helena, AK and one year, the gov showed up and played blues guitar! Husband shot a few pictures and filed them away in his archives. When he heard about the luncheon, he grabbed the pictures and when Huckabee was done speaking, he approached the Gov. and gave him the pictures. He went from "politician" to "musician" and was one of the most down-to-earth people I've met. He was warm, gracious and genuinely touched to receive the pictures. He said that "if I make it to the White House, we'll have a blues jam!!" A really great guy. We need more guys like him around.
